GDPR - PRIVACY NOTICE - BUSINESS MANAGEMENT & CONSULTANTS LIMITED

This privacy notice becomes effective on 25th May 2018.

Business Management & Consultants Limited [BMC] is committed to maintaining the privacy and security of personal information which we collect from you, our clients.

The Privacy Statement is a statement of policy and, save for those rights and obligations set out in the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2017, it does not establish or create any additional user rights or any further obligations.

For clarity, BMC may be both data controller and data processor for your personal data.

Who are we?

BMC is a provider of book-keeping, accounting, payroll, business management and similar services. We are based in Guernsey. Our registered office is 2C, Clos de Mouriaux, St Anne, Alderney, GY9 3UY

Client Information:

We treat all information we receive from clients as confidential and do not use the information for any purpose other than to fulfil our obligations to you. We keep client information secure at all times, and do all we can to prevent the misuse and unauthorized disclosure of it by our employees or any third parties.

Whenever you give us personal data, you are consenting to its collection and use in accordance with this privacy policy.

For the avoidance of doubt, we do not, and never shall, sell your personal data to third parties for any purpose.

How the law protects you:

Data protection laws state that we are only able to process personal data if we have valid reasons to do so. The basis for processing your personal data includes, but is not limited to, your consent, performance of a contract, to enable billing and remittance, and to contact you for customer service purposes.

Your rights:

You can request access to the personal information we have collected about you. We will correct any information that is inaccurate or incomplete, change consent status, or have personal information deleted, subject to legal retention period within 48 hours of you advising us accordingly.

Email Addresses and Communication:

BMC may have personal email addresses in its email system or data files that are acquired through clients who have provided email addresses for various purposes.

BMC uses email as a means of communicating to Clients and their employees.

Personal Information Security:

BMC is committed to keeping personal data secure and will take all reasonable precautions to protect personal information from loss, misuse or alteration. This data is stored on our internal computers that are protected by firewalls and other appropriate security mechanisms. Third parties that provide us with support or services may also receive client data or personal information, and we require them to maintain security measures similar to ours with respect to such information.

Legal Obligations:

Under certain circumstances permitted or required by law (for example, in connection with law enforcement investigations), we may be required to disclose client data or personal information without giving notice.

What type of data do we collect from you?

The personal data that we may collect from you and your employees, clients, customers, suppliers and any other individuals or businesses associated with you includes names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, employee information, payment information and IP addresses. We may also retain records of your queries and correspondence, in the event you contact us.

How do we use your data?

  • To provide you with products and services
  • To comply with our contractual obligations, whether in writing or verbal, we have with you
  • To help us identify you
  • To enable us to review, develop and improve the services we supply to you
  • To provide customer care, including responding to your requests if you contact us with a query
  • To administer accounts, process payments and receipts and keep track of billing and payments
  • To detect fraud and to make sure what you have told us is correct
  • If requested to review job applications;
  • To notify you about changes to our and services;
  • To inform you of service and price changes.

Retention periods:

We will keep your personal data for the duration of the period you are a customer of BMC. We shall retain your data only for as long as necessary in accordance with applicable laws.

On the closure of your account, we may keep your data for up to 7 years after you have cancelled your services with us. We may not be able to delete your data before this time due to our legal and / or accountancy obligations. We assure you that your personal data shall only be used for these purposes stated herein.

Changes to This Privacy Statement:

BMC reserves the right to modify and update this policy and its related business practices at any time. Please view this Privacy Policy on a regular basis.
